Honey Cleansing: Ways to Wash Your Face With Honey

In an attempt to cut chemicals out of my skincare routine, and my life, I have started using raw honey to cleanse my face. I have found it to be an effective cleanser, and a luxurious facial scrub or mask. If you are looking for a safe, effective way to go natural with your skincare, try these three ways to wash your face with honey.

Honey Cleanser

Honey moisturizes skin while drying acne, and removing dirt and bacteria; however, it does not remove makeup well, so it's best to use in the mornings if you wear makeup during the day. You don't need to rinse your face beforehand; simply rub half a teaspoon of honey between clean fingers (I like to wet my fingers to keep them from getting too sticky) and apply the honey to your face. Make sure to cover your entire face for the most effectiveness. Then rinse and pat dry. Don't worry - honey rinses from the skin very easily.

Honey and Sugar Scrub

A honey and sugar scrub removes the top layer of dry skin, and will leave your skin feeling very soft and fresh. Mix together about a half teaspoon each of honey and sugar, more or less depending on your desired consistency, and apply gently in a circular motion to clean, damp skin. This can even be used in the shower over the entire body. Rinse and pat dry. It's best to only use a facial scrub once a week at most, because it can be damaging and irritating to the skin if done too frequently.

Honey Mask

Occasionally, when I have a little time on the weekends, I will leave the honey on my face for twenty minutes to really let it soak in. This gives it more time to zap acne while hydrating the rest of your face. Then, simply rinse it off and pat your skin dry. I cleanse every morning with honey and, when I am able, I try to do a honey mask and a scrub once a week.
