Your Little Girl Will Love Wearing Her Homemade Fruity Lip Gloss!
Little girls love playing with make up. But letting them get into your make up bag can be expensive! You can help them make their own fruity lip gloss using nothing more than common kitchen ingredients that you most likely have in your pantry. This homemade fruity lip gloss is a fun project to make during a slumber party. The girls will have fun showing off their new lip gloss colors!
To make fruity lip gloss for kids, all you need is some solid shortening like Crisco and some powdered drink mix like Kool-Aid. You will also need a small container to store the fruity lip gloss. A small container like a film container will work. Or you can buy some little decorative tins at any craft store.
Start by mixing together 2 tablespoons of shortening and 1 tablespoon of powdered drink mix in a small, microwave safe bowl. Mix until it is well blended and smooth. You can use either sweetened or unsweetened drink mix. The sweetened drink mix will be lip smacking good. The unsweetened drink mix will cause the girls to make funny faces from the tartness, but it will be darker in color.
After mixing the shortening and the powdered drink mix, place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for about 15 seconds or until the mixture becomes a liquid. Your microwave may take longer. Just watch it so you don't over heat it. As soon as it's liquid, you are done.
Pour the liquid shortening into your container of choice and place it in the refrigerator until it's firm, usually about 30 minutes. Then take the fruity lip gloss out of the refrigerator and it's ready to use!
If you want, you can decorate your fruity lip gloss container using stickers, markers, or by gluing on paper cut outs. You can also make up fun names for your fruity lip gloss (pinky pink, ruby red, very berry) and write it on a mailing label and stick it on the container.
If you want to turn this fruity lip stick into something really special, buy an inexpensive plastic locket and fill the locket with the lip gloss. Then you can wear your fruity lip gloss around your neck and have it whenever you need it!
