Best Organic Hair Masks to Use in the Summer

With the summer you really need to keep your hair full of moisture by protecting your hair from the sun, leaving conditioner on your scalp and hair, and making sure to do a deep hair mask treatment at least once a week. A deep hair mask is basically the same thing as a facial only on your hair. You have two choices for a deep hair mask. You can either make your own organic hair mask or you can buy a hair mask. If you decide on making your own summer hair mask treatment make sure you use the right essentials your hair and scalp needs like olive oil mixed with egg, vitamins, fenugreek seeds used as a paste, banana with almond oil, or honey with olive oil and mashed avocado. Why should you use a hair mask for your hair in the summertime?

In the summer your hair has more access to the sun, wind, ocean, swimming pool, or continuous sweating, therefore your hair loses moisture. A regular conditioner does help with the dryness and softness, but only to a certain point. You can actually buy a deep hair mask treatment in a bottle or a jar. If you decide to go this route here are my top recommendations for summer hair masks for your hair.

Aubrey Organics Hair Rescue Blue Green Algae Conditioning Mask- This hair conditioning hair mask is 100% natural made of the best ingredients. It contains nutrients that our hair needs like vitamin A, C, and E. Other ingredients it has in it are lavender water, Organic Shea butter, Organic Aloe Vera, citrus seed extract, and coconut. This hair mask will make your hair soft, condition your scalp and hair, and make your hair easy to comb. A bottle of this will cost $14.00 for 4 ounces. This actually comes in a jar, which will make it easier for some. When you apply this to your hair you only need to use a tablespoonful, unless you have longer hair more will be needed. It says to leave on hair for 15 minutes, but please leave it on for 30 minutes to allow your scalp and ends to soak up the conditioner to gain more moisture. Also place a hot towel or plastic processing cap over your head after you apply the hair mask to keep the heat and moisture in place. Aubrey Organics also has a Blue Green Algae Hair Mask for $10.00, but I'm not sure how effective it is on the hair I haven't tried it.

Aubrey Green Tea and Green Clay Rejuvenating Hair Mask- This hair mask works wonders on dry hair or hair with heavy residue build up. If your hair is dull, brittle, full of build up from chlorine or hair products the Kaolin, green clay, and Red fruit acids will remove it. This hair mask is all natural and can be used once a week. After one use your scalp and hair will feel renewed. It will give you shine, softness, and make your scalp feel so clean. The smell is very refreshing, and will last through out the day. The results are very similar to Aubrey Organics Blue Green Algae only this one really cleans out all purities from your scalp and hair leaving a slight cool tingle that is refreshing.

Another really good organic hair mask to use in the summer is called Apivita Propoline Mask for color treated hair. I have not used this one yet, but from other stylists I have talked to this one seems to work best on colored, permed, or Gray hair. It will not strip or fade the color out. It contains all natural ingredients.

If your wallet can't afford these products you can make your own hair mask at home. Mix equal parts of honey, olive oil, coconut oil, 1 egg, ½ of banana, and a few drops of Cognac. The smell will be a tad potent when you first apply it to your scalp and hair, but the results will be lovely. This hair mask will give you moisture, softness, and tremendous shine from the Cognac. If you don't have any Cognac replace with Vodka or Rum.
