Homemade Beauty Recipes with Everyday Kitchen Items

Look Your Best for Less with Foods for Your Face and Body

Let's start our homemade beauty recipes with a something to pick us up, them move on to refreshing treatments and finally pampering, creamy delights.

Many of us start our morning with a cup of coffee. You can brew yourself a cup, let the grounds cool for about ten minutes then use them to exfoliate your skin. Mix one and one half tablespoons of warm coffee grounds with a half a tablespoon of sea salt. If you don't have sea salt, you can use regular table salt in a pinch. Rub over your body in the shower then wash up as usual. When you get out, put moisturizer all over your damp body. You will look and feel smooth and exhilarated!

To refresh yourself for the day, cut a lemon in half. Scoop out the insides and rub the lemon juice all over your face. While you let the juice dry, put the lemon halves on your elbows. The lemon juice is an excellent astringent to help unclog your pores. The half lemons on your elbows will have a bleaching effect to get rid of that darkness from leaning on your computer desk all day. Rinse with warm water and you'll look and smell fresh!

Take a tablespoon of plain yogurt, a tablespoon of honey and a mashed, ripe banana. Mix them in a bowl and rub it all over your face. Let the mixture stay on your face for about ten or fifteen minutes then rinse off. The yogurt has good bacteria to balance your skin. Yogurt and banana moisturize your face. The combination smells great and makes you look terrific.

I also have two extra skin recipes for special skin problems. First, when you have a pimple or blemish you want to get rid of quickly, squeeze some strawberry juice from a ripe strawberry on it. Leave the juice on for about a half hour and rise with warm water. The acidic properties of the strawberry help to dry up the pimple. Second, if you get a bug bite you can use baking soda to relieve the itch and bring down the swelling. Simply mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of water to create a paste and put it on the bites. Leave the paste on the bites all day and they will be reduced in just a few hours.

Homemade beauty recipes are organic and natural, so there are no offending chemicals to irritate your skin. Most of the ingredients are right in your kitchen so homemade beauty recipes are affordable so you can look your best for less.
